I have been told to update my review in light of two phone calls and an email from Pondsfords. I received a call from David Cartwright as soon as my review was published. He was very apologetic and saddened by my experience making no excuses but was very sincere. He assured me our chairs were in the UK and there would be no delays. He assured me he had only heard good things about the factory in Thailand but the manager David Carter who was away doing business would phone me at the end of the week as he had been to the factory so could reassure me more. David Carter, rang on Fruday, maybe making a call if you are tired after a week away working meant his message was nit delivered the way it was intended, but I found him to be patronising at best. This David td me to retract the sweatshop statement as he had sent me an email with photos, the company had air conditioning. He told me if I did not retract the statement he would just write that we had spoken and put the pictures up to show the work place. I felt by this stage I should appologise to Him for the negative review, not him to me. All in all if it was my company I would not let David Carter telephone customers, I was quite happy with the first call to put it right. The company in Thailand? The photos showed a modern factory. My own research shows there are no concerns over poor working practices and indeed John Lewis also sell furniture from the company so I agree with Mr Carter, this is not a sweat shop.

My wife and I were made welcome from the moment we arrived in the shop no pushy sales staff but the most helpful when asked,which made it a pleasure.

Outstanding service underpinned by a desire to go above and beyond to delight the customer. One gets the feeling the employees see the long term value in the relationship they develop with a customer, rather than just a one time sale.

Bought an Ercol 'Loveseat' from Ponsford, bizarrely £200 cheaper than anywhere else online. It was delivered on time, to the hour, even though I live at the other end of the country. Oh, and when you ring them up, they always answer the phone. Excellent customer service.

I haven't shopped online, only in store, the staff are always very helpful and polite, no pressure is ever put on you to make any purchase and the shop is always very clean and well presented. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Ponsford's to anyone wanting something classy & stylish and its not necessarily expensive.

Excellent in store service 1st rate, delivery very good but it was organised in the store for someone to come back to put special rubber gliders on the bottom of the table as it is to heavy for us to lift. It has never happened and we so we feel quite disappointed that this wasn't seen through. we waited so they could pull it in with another delivery near us but to no avail! Sorry to moan but other than that it was a very nice experience. Mr & Mrs

We took a long time to decide to buy and visited your furniture store in the new building many times over a twelve month period. Your staff were always very helpful, extremely patient and at no time did we feel we were being pushed into making a decision. Delivery was earlier than forecast and carried out efficiently and with care. We are very happy with our Stressless furniture the only problem being it is so comfortable it is not uncommon for us to fall asleep halfway through an entertaining television programme.

We found the staff to be very helpful and courteous, without being pushy. In particular, Denise was very knowledgeable when discussing our requirements for leather sofas and gave us plenty of time to consider our options. All in all, it was a good experience and we would certainly recommend Pondsfords in the future. Thank you.

We love our new sofa ... it's clearly excellent quality. However, we were surprised by how 'lived in' it looked after only a week, and had the Leather Expert visit to check on it. We weren't made aware of how to plump it up - which is quite high maintenance if you want to resolve a 'saggy' look on the seat, nor were we told that you shouldn't use the cleaning pack more than once every 3-6 months. That said, the customer service from Ponsford has been excellent - polite, professional, responsive and patient.

Ponsfords fitted a new carpet in our lounge/dinning room. Sales staff were very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. The fitters were also very skilled in fitting our underlay and carpet and I also noticed that the underlay was of a higher quality than previous, the seams were taped as well as stapled and 2 rows of Gripper strip were used. Never seen this before. Many thanks Adrian to you and all your team.

Excellent all round. Mr wright in the bedding department was extremely helpful, the ladies in the oftice and the delivery men were very efficient. Would not hesitate in recommending Ponsford to family and friends. Thank you.

Our sofa and chairs were ordered feb 2014 and we were told there was an 8-10 week wait. 11 weeks later we hadn't heard anything so called to see where our furniture was. We were told it had missed the container and we would have to wait until late June! It is firstly poor service to promise something that was probably not possible in the first place but even poorer service to then not tell the customer it was delayed by 6 weeks. Premium prices for bargain basement service, go to Barker and Stone house where all the furniture is the same and thy have bigger buying power and stock reserves.

In this instance we were powerless to speed up the delivery once the container had been missed however we take full responsibility that we should have been aware of this earlier and should have informed you.
